B-1 LEMON LIME SODA vintage tin soda advertising thermometer. MORE ZIP IN EVERY SIP. A little history first : The zip was a marketing reference to its use as a hangover cure. B-1 was a lithiated lemon lime soda , like 7 up , but it also contained thiamine (vitamin B-1). It was also competition to a now little known lithiated Coca Cola variant. All three contained a drug that were meant to cure the effects of hangovers. Its fair to say , soft drinks these were not! By 1948, Lithium was banned from soft drinks. The B-1 thermometer represents a rare piece of this almost forgotten history. Edge wear and oxidation from original stamping and stacking evident. Great paint sheen with very little surface scratching/ smudging from spending its life indoors , out of the sun and elements. Apx size 4 5/8 x 16 5/16.
