VINTAGE 1940s-1950s DRINK HIRES ROOT BEER TIN ADVERTISING THERMOMETER SIGN

This is an ORIGINAL vintage tin, or steel, soda water advertising thermometer. The front reads: “DRINK HIRES” and the bottom pictures a bottle of Hires Root Beer. It measures 27 inches long, and is 8 & 1/8 inches wide. I would call the condition GOOD to VERY GOOD, but please read the description, see the pictures, and make your OWN grade. The temperature reading is off by about 5 degrees. The reading DOES move up & down when subjected to cold & heat, but the room temperature reading is off by a few degrees. The colors are a little faded – not TOO bad. There is a little dark paint at the top, bottom, and side edges. It looks like this was on a wall when someone painted around it, and got a little paint on the edges – not too bad. It has some scratches and small paint rubs – general wear. It still displays very nicely. I think this was made in the 1940’s, or maybe the early 1950’s – give or take. Thank you for shopping at Funky retro Monkey. Coca Cola Pause. Drink Large Metal Framed Sign Original Vintage 1939 Coke Soda

Drink large metal wood-framed sign, vintage 1939. Please see measurements at the bottom of this text body. The weight of this item is between 17 and 18 pounds. This sign features the extremely rare Pause… Drink slogan with the typical Coca-Cola logo. In the lower left is a 6oz. Bottle of Coca-Cola with a yellow circle in the background. Red and yellow colors are used throughout the sign with some, what was probably tin-silver originally. This sign is in used condition with lots of weathering and damage on it from being displayed for decades, creating a lot of character. There have been some touch-ups and small attempts at cleaning over the years. There is also some rust, dents, dings, scratches, and holes – hanging/framing and possibly BB bullet holes. There are some bends and folds throughout, as well as some brushed on black paint or oil in the top right corner. The sign is no longer bright, but has a dirty look to it. A wood frame has been added to it, although obviously several years old. The frame is assembled with phillips screws, and there is some minor separation on each corner. A hanging wire has been added for convenience. Measurements are approximate and listed below. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like additional photos. Depth with frame: 2 inches.
