Big, all original vintage neon sign in very good as found condition. Nice solid body with no rust or heavy damage. 74 inches long, 14 inches tall, 8 3/4 inches deep. Original transformers and metal letters and base. There is some light white overspray spots on the metal but not too detractive. The set is missing the F and i to complete the firestone. The letter could be made by a pro etal fab guy and porcelained. It would probably cost a bunch though. Hoping someone out there has the rest. About half the glass round insulators are gone, it feels like some of the letters have the transformers in them, a couple of letters have bent parts, see pics. Letters stand about 2 feet tall each and about 16-18 wide. Letters have some latex paint (red) on them. Letters are solid white once paint is removed. Vintage Original 1940’s Neon Tri-Color Restored Advertising Sign. This unique sign is from the Union Hotel Clinton Street Binghamton, New York. Clinton Street was a mile stretch of taverns, boutiques, and attractions in Binghamton’s First Ward starting in late 1800’s to present. Today Clinton Street is known for its many antique shops and attractions. This” One of a Kind” jewel was a fixture on the exterior of the Union Hotel circa 1888 from the 1940’s through 1970’s until it fell in need of total repair, was removed from the building and stored. The result was breathtaking!!! Back to all it’s Glory in it’s rare tri-colors of green, orange, pink… This jewel would make a statement in any space, loft, industrial setting…. Truly a wonderful piece of neon on steel hand crafted 1940’s Americana. Sign is double sided and wired currently for 110v and has 3 prong plug. Vintage Japanese Enamel Sign “Toshiba Mazuda Light Bulb” Electronics. Patina all over giving it a nice vintage feel, please refer to pictures. = Toshiba Mazuda Light Bulb. = Sales outlet / Dealer. Mazda was a trademarked name registered by General Electric (GE) in 1909 for incandescent light bulbs. The name was used from 1909 through 1945 in the United States by GE and Westinghouse. Mazda brand light bulbs were made for decades after 1945 outside the US. The company chose the name due to its association with Ahura Mazda, the transcendental and universal God of Zoroastrianism whose name means light of wisdom in the Avestan language. In 1909 the Mazda name was created for the tungsten filament light bulb. GE promoted the mark as identifying tungsten filament bulbs with predictable performance and life expectancy. GE also licensed the Mazda name, socket sizes, and tungsten filament technology to other manufacturers to establish a standard for lighting. Tungsten-filament bulbs of the Mazda type were initially more costly than carbon filament bulbs, but used less electricity. Often electrical utilities would trade new lamps for consumers’ burned-out bulbs. In at least one case the authority regulating energy rates required the utility to use only tungsten bulbs so as not to inflate customer’s energy use. The company dropped the campaign in 1945. GE’s patents on the tungsten filament lamp expired in the late 1930s and other forms of lighting were becoming more important than incandescent bulbs. 77,779 expired in 2000. I’ve had this piece for 20+ years and it’s time to find it a new home. 72″ wide and 46″ tall, including the nose. I had a few minor areas, especially around screw holes, professionally touched-up when I acquired the sign, but porcelain is overall in great shape. Nose was NOS and still in the box when I acquired the sign. “Zenith” is in blue and “Radio” is in orange. Glass is original, but lettering on the glass was re-done on reverse side, as the original lettering was almost gone.
