Vintage Petroliana Gem: November 2005 Check the Oil! ” Magazine + Texaco “Men Porcelain Sign – Rare Gas Station Collectible! Hey fellow petroliana hunters! If you’re chasing that authentic slice of gas & oil history like me, this combo is a must-have for your collection. Up for grabs is the full November 2005 issue of Check the Oil! The go-to magazine for vintage automobile advertising, antique porcelain signs, and rare gas station memorabilia. Packed with stunning photos, collector stories, and event calendars from the golden age of motoring – think classic pumps, neon globes, and iconic brands like Texaco, Shell, Gulf, and Esso. But here’s the real kicker: It comes bundled with an original vintage Texaco “Men” porcelain sign, measuring 5 7/8″ tall x 3 1/2″ wide. This T-shaped beauty screams mid-century service station vibe, with the bold red Texaco star logo over crisp white enamel, and “Men” in black block letters for that old-school restroom pointer. Double-sided for display flexibility, complete with hanging hole – perfect for your man cave, garage shelf, or petro display case. Light edge wear and authentic patina add to the charm without detracting; it’s a genuine survivor from the era of firestone tires and mobilgas pumps. Serious collectors know these small porcelain gems are tough to find unrestored! The magazine itself is a 24+ page treasure trove of petro history, loaded with high-res images and articles that’ll have you geeking out over Sinclair dinosaurs and Pure Oil pumps. Here’s a quick rundown of the standout spreads inside – no fluff, just the good stuff for sign chasers and oil change nostalgics. Cover & Intro Spread: Eye-popping painted artwork by Warren H. Anderson of a rusty classic car hugging a blue enamel gas pump reading “Regular” at 29.5¢ a gallon. Sets the tone for this dedicated petroliana pub, celebrating antique gas signs, vintage oil cans, and automobilia from the 1920s-1950s. Petro Gallery Feature: Black-and-white gems from yesteryear, including a 1938 Shell station in Tilbury, Ontario with uniformed attendants at porcelain-domed pumps, plus a pristine Colonial Gas depot in New York with early Ford pull-ups. Killer shots of streamline modern architecture and those unmistakable shell oil emblems. Esso Happy Motoring Era Ads: Full-color reprints from the 1940s Standard Oil Company of Pennsylvania, showcasing the “Sign of Happy Motoring” with top-hat service guys, red ribbon gasoline globes, and tips on tire care, battery checks, and engine flushes. Includes rare Good Care Counts! Promo art with winged Esso logos and dealer signage. Gas Station Road Trip Stories: Reader tales from Sandusky, Ohio’s Mobil Travel Center – a 1960s diner-style stop with 30-foot map globes, rolling steel doors, and vintage vending. Paired with a 1950s Pure pump lineup in Temple, Texas, where locals still haul antiques from the old Sinclair and Mobil days. Dry Creek Gas Bash Recap: Coverage of the first annual Susan Moore, Alabama event in July’05, with massive success stories from promoters Ivan Taunton and James Blakey. Highlights Sinclair, Citgo, and Mobilgas displays, plus vendor hauls of state fair memorabilia and calendar teases for next year’s automobile swap meets. Preview details and contact for Gulf Oil crowns and Mobilheat signs. Plus, a Pennzoil shed with original wood-frame pumps evoking Route 66 vibes. Michelin Memorabilia Deep Dive: Rudy Le Coadic’s expert guide to collecting Bibendum the tire man – from 1920s French car mascots to 1990s U. Spotlights porcelain Michelin signs, advertising clocks, and ashtrays, with tips on spotting fakes versus genuine celluloid promo items from the Greenville, NC plant era. Top o’ the Pump Globes Roundup: Lonnis Hop’s roundup of rare 1920s-1940s glass globes, featuring Red Hat Gasoline, High Hat, and Seymour, Missouri independents alongside TyReco and Mohawk enamel beauties. Whether you’re restoring a’32 Plymouth or just love hunting original rare porcelain advertising signs, this package delivers instant cred to your shelf?? . Hit me up; happy to chat Texaco fire chief pumps or Esso solvent oil lore. Don’t sleep on this – true petroliana finds like the included sign vanish fast! Thanks for looking – let’s keep the oil checked and the engines purring!

Our signs are made using commercial grade sign. Material which is 1/8 inch thick dibond material which is aluminum skins. With a pvc middle. Very durable and can be used outdoors. We create the signs to look like originals from the era. And hand age them to give them that barn find look. We have a process. That makes real rust so the aging is real and not paint. Then cleared so give them a protective layer so they will last. Let me know if you need sooner.
