Antique painted wooden haberdasher’s sign, c. The three and a half foot long sign has great hand-painted lettering and ornament with touches of orange color. Originating in Nashua, New Hampshire, it advertises Rubber Coats and Umbrellas at Floyd Bros. 125 Main Street Nashua. The piece is in weathered condition with handsome patina from many years outdoors. Good antique condition with typical wear from outdoor use, old split with repair, a few spots of the paint lettering worn away, but displays well. There may perhaps be one in a private collection for sure, but who truly knows how many of these exist!!! Top left corner is slightly bent, with porcelain flakes off and clearly the bottom right hand corner was cut at some point in time (for what dumb reason I do no know, roughly 4.5 tall x 2 wide chunk) – incredible shelving and strong vibrant colors and gloss for such an old sign. It has Victorian Cursive 26 on back Sign. I honestly think this is one of the nicest porcelain signs Ive ever seen graphically with the EAGLE, ENGLISH D and Hops with bold and Americana Red, White, Blue colors – reads a G. Co on bottom with some chipping through most of the manufacturers mark, but can make out MD (Im assuming Maryland) – stands roughly 24.125 tall x 16 wide on curve portion, 14.25 actual width on back side to side, brackets have a slight bend to them Photos show how incredible this sign truly is regardless of its obvious flaws!
